Piermont Mayor Mitchell Conquers DeCarlo Island!


INCORPORATED VILLAGE OF PIERMONT BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
April 21, 2026

Present: Mayor Nathan Mitchell, Deputy Mayor Mark Blomquist, Trustee Jeff Gordon, Trustee Kate McCabe, Dennis Michaels -Village Attorney and Jennifer DeYorgi Maher Village Clerk-Treasurer.

Mayor Nathan Mitchell called the meeting to order and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Item #4 - Old Business.

Trustee Gordon asked Building Inspector Charles Schaub if the owners of the Triangle Lot have responded to the notice of violation that was sent to them. Building Inspector Charles Schaub reported that the property owners have responded and that a meeting has been scheduled with Mayor Mitchell and himself on April 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

Item #9 - Authorize the scheduling of a Public Hearing to Repeal Local Law #4 of 2023.

Mayor Mitchell stated that the Village of Piermont has drafted a local law to repeal Local Law No. 4 of 2023

He explained that a General Municipal Law (GML) referral was sent to Rockland County Legislature for review and comment, and that the County indicated it had no objections. Additional referral letters were also distributed, though the Village has not yet received responses from all parties. 

Mayor Mitchell reviewed the purpose of Local Law No. 4 of 2023 and the reason for its repeal, emphasizing that the Village is ensuring all procedural requirements are properly followed. Village Attorney Dennis Michaels clarified that the proposed new law serves solely to repeal Local Law No. 4 of 2023. Mayor Mitchell added that the Village will take into consideration recommendations from the Comprehensive Plan Committee when developing future zoning updates for the downtown area, which will then be brought before the Board for action.
 
Trustee Gordon made a motion to schedule Public Hearing to Repeal Local Law #4 of 2023 on May 19, 2026. The motion was seconded by Trustee McCabe and carried with a vote of 4 ayes and 0 nays.

Item #14 - Adjournment

Trustee Gordon made a motion at 7:53 p.m. to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Trustee Blomquist and carried with a vote of 5 ayes and 0 nays.
