NEWSFLASH: Piermont Deputy Mayor Mark Blomquist Endorses Nate Mitchell For Piermont Mayor.

Something remarkable just happened in the Piermont, New York mayoral election race.

It was something that I did not expect.

As virtually every Piermont resident knows, and as every reader of this Blog knows, Piermont has been ruled by a mayor named Bruce Tucker for the last eight years. Tucker has been the worst mayor in Piermont’s history. If not for Piermont and Orangetown citizen resistance over the past two years, Bruce Tucker would have trashed the notable, photogenic, and historic Hudson River Valley Village of Piermont with overdevelopment, neglect, and financial malfeasance.

A number of Piermont residents, though, have yet to learn that Bruce Tucker is currently under Audit and Investigation by Tom DiNapoli’s Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC). The OSC Investigation is considered a law enforcement investigation. Moreover, multiple law enforcement agencies are waiting to read the OSC Audit report just like we all are. After all, Tucker failed to timely report financials to the Comptroller each year for his entire eight-year term, while dragging Piermont taxpayers into what is now almost a negative US$10,000,000 Net Position black hole:

A number of years ago, a local fireman, diver, and Village Trustee who once earned a J.D. and an MBA named Mark Blomquist, was tapped to serve as Piermont’s Deputy Mayor. Blomquist served as such under Piermont Mayor Bruce Tucker. Blomquist acted in apparent lock-step with Mayor Bruce Tucker for eight years - up until now.

Something changed. What was it?

What we do know, is that Mark Blomquist was contacted by the Office of the New York State Comptroller over a year ago, in early October 2024, when audit activities against Piermont Village Hall and Garmento Mayor Bruce Tucker were starting to swirl. (See below). At that stage and time, the OSC activities were considered part of a Risk Assessment”, but now since metastasized into a full-blown, plenary Audit and Investigation. In other words, OSC found stuff on Tucker:
It is difficult to imagine that Mark Blomquist would have done anything other than throw Mayor Bruce Tucker under the proverbial bus once these New York State authorities came calling on him. The Office of the New York State Comptroller doesn’t play. Sure, you might speculate that Mark Blomquist could have Taken Five or otherwise feigned ignorance once contacted by OSC - but remember, by the time that October 2024 rolled around, the Comptroller’s office already had a lot of documents, investigative materials, and other information in hand from other sources.

Just like Mayor Tucker quit once the Comptroller audit activities commenced and thereupon announced that he is not seeking re-election:

... Mark Blomquist is likely on the way out, too.

Yet now, Mark Blomquist also realizes that he is no longer dependent on Bruce Tucker’s support for a post on the Village of Piermont Board of Trustees, or for Tucker’s continued selection as Piermont’s Deputy Mayor. Perhaps Mark Blomquist also senses what is coming out of the New York State Comptroller’s Audit Report, too. For that matter, perhaps Mark Blomquist is continuing to roll-over on Tucker in the OSC Investigation as we speak – since after all, we already know that others in Piermont already did roll-over on Tucker.

Therefore, as opposed to continuing to be oppressed by Bruce Tucker’s unholy grip, Mark Blomquist is now free and empowered to actually speak the truth and vote with his conscience, publicly. It must feel really good for him. He can be a man again, and not just another Tucker supplicant.

As you also know, Piermont Mayor Bruce Tucker recently anointed an unqualified disciple named Kevin Timoney to run for Piermont Mayor against Democrat candidate Nate Mitchell. Bruce Tucker did this because Bruce Tucker hates Nate Mitchell with an unbridled passion.
Tucker and his enablers used the chicanery of an independent line to prop-up Kevin Timoney while hijacking the so-called Piermont Democratic Committee. Therefore, one might think that Mark Blomquist would now feel compelled to continue to be the company-man, continue to act in lock-step with Mayor Bruce Tucker, and endorse Kevin Timoney as well.

But guess what? Mark Blomquist grew a backbone. Bruce Tucker’s distasteful exit
manoeuvres were apparently just too much for Blomquist to bear. Not only did Mark Blomquist refuse to endorse Bruce Tucker’s puppet Kevin Timoney, Mark Blomquist just endorsed Nate Mitchell as the next Mayor of Piermont, New York.

Said Blomquist of Nate Mitchell, I can think of no one more qualified to be the next Mayor of Piermont.
